About Kit

Your voice is an exceptionally personal instrument, and it should be fun for you to use it! Let's explore new ways to make music. Together, we'll make sure it is uniquely yours. With over 25 years of experience singing in choirs, bands, and solo, I can help you define your sound. I'll also make sure your voice stays healthy while doing it.

Singing is not just for naturally talented people. If you can make a noise come out of your mouth, you can be a singer. You don't need to carry a tune or have any knowledge of music to pursue singing lessons. Your voice is an instrument, and you can learn how to play it.

Every student is different, and I want to make sure our lessons are tailored to your learning style. I run a student-guided curriculum that incorporates the fundamentals of voice training while working on what you like to sing. My studio is a no-judgment zone and an inclusive space.

As a transgender nonbinary singer, I also offer gender affirming vocal coaching. Changing your voice — either with or without hormones — is a deeply personal journey. I will always put your needs and goals first. We can also incorporate speaking coaching along with singing if that is something you want to work on together.

Student reviews

"My experience taking lessons from Kit has been nothing short of a pleasure. From the start, they did a great job of identifying the aspects of my voice and singing that I've wanted to improve on and I've felt my confidence grow after every lesson. Kit is engaging, attentive, and SO skilled at providing feedback in a constructive and helpful way. Singing in front of another person can be intimidating and vulnerable, but they make sure to ask me how I feel about exercises, which makes a big difference. I'd recommend lessons with Kit to anyone who is looking for a productive, safe, and fun environment to grow as a singer."

"I started taking lessons from Kit to become a stronger singer and quickly learned that there are so many more facets to singing than I thought! I've had so many 'a-ha!' moments since I started. Kit is a very calming, reassuring presence with a lot of knowledge. It has been a game changer to have their outside perspective on something I've been doing all my life. I highly recommend trying them out!"

— Andrea

"Kit is a fantastic human, teacher, friend, and all around great person to have in your corner. I've been taking a once a month lesson for a few months, and have seen a great amount of improvement in my ability to sing without destroying my voice. I had a habit of singing overly loud without any true support from my diaphragm, and would feel hoarse after a 30 minute set. After an awkward but fun lesson involving imaginary eggs in the back of my mouth, and learning a gentle support provided by the diaphragm, I was able to feel a difference almost instantly."
